About TEA ACADEMY JJAPAN

TEA ACADEMY JAPAN was established in September 2018 to bring the qualification program, which had previously only been offered in the UK, to Japan.

In September 2025, while the UK TEA ACADEMY main campus moved its courses completely online, TEA ACADEMY JAPAN chose to maintain face-to-face classes.

Although the content offered will no longer be the same as in the UK, the organizer, Steward Asako, is also a lecturer at the UK main school, and the Tea Academy Japan qualification will continue to exist as a partner school.

Tea can only be deeply learned by experiencing its aroma, flavor, and atmosphere with all five senses. Gaining knowledge online and then experiencing it face-to-face will further enrich your understanding.

Tea Academy Japan's certificates are available at two levels.

1. World Tea Essentials

2. Tea Sommelier

This is suitable for people like this.

  • Those who want to work in the tea industry, sell black tea, Japanese tea, or other teas, or open a tea room or cafe, or are already working in such fields.

  • Those involved in the production, sales, and export of Japanese tea, and would like to know the position of Japanese tea in the world and how it compares to other teas.

  • I am interested in black tea, Japanese tea, Chinese tea, etc. and would like to learn about them as a hobby.

  • I work in the tea import and sales industry and would like to know the latest information about the world.

  • I am already studying tea but would like to learn about other tea varieties and the international perspective from the UK.

  • I run tea and other classes and would like to acquire an internationally recognized qualification and update my information.

*Tea Academy's qualification courses can also be held on-site as in-house training. Please contact us using the form .

Aboud UK TEA ACADEMY

The UK Tea Academy , which was established in London in 2016 , started as an institution that provides certification programs to train tea professionals not only in black tea but also in teas from around the world, including Japanese tea and Chinese tea.In 2025, it became the only nationally recognized qualification in the UK, and went fully online.

UK TEA ACADEMY qualification is recognised worldwide and is useful for finding work in the tea industry both in the UK and abroad. In the UK, people who have obtained the Tea Sommelier qualification work as tea sommeliers in the lounges of first-class hotels, set up tea rooms, and work in tea specialty shops and famous department stores.

Tea is consumed all over the world, but customs, utensils, and preparation methods vary widely. I myself have been interested in tea for over 30 years. UK TEA ACADEMY, which began in the UK, known as the land of tea, is the only UK-recognized qualification course that provides accurate and up-to-date knowledge about all types of tea around the world, and students come from all over the world. I have been teaching the English version at our school since its founding, and I started Tea Academy Japan with the hope that people could obtain this same globally recognized qualification in Japanese as well. TEA ACADEMY JAPAN is attended by people who want to use it for their work, producers and sellers who want to understand the position of Japanese tea on the global stage, and instructors who want to resolve questions and update their own knowledge.

Some people seek unbiased knowledge as a hobby, while others want to learn about all types of tea as an introduction before moving on to mastering black tea, Chinese tea, Japanese tea, etc. Many people say that their everyday doubts have been cleared up and they feel refreshed! The genuine smiles on the participants' faces at such times are a joy for us teachers. This is a course where you can experience the positive energy of tea and its power to connect people, so we would be delighted if anyone interested in or loving tea would come along.
